I have known Kelsey for over ten years, but they live in Minnesota, so I just finally met Meghan for the first time on Tuesday. As fabulous as Kelsey is, I knew that they would be up for having some fun with their engagement shoot so we headed off to Peter Pan Mini Golf on a very wet, overcast Wednesday afternoon and I followed them through a round. I described the concept of the shoot as “glamour, mini-golf, six-pack, dinosaur, love” and think I successfully captured all five:

What a blast! You can tell in a matter of seconds that these two are really best friends and just enjoy being around each other.

Plus, they are gorgeous!

Thanks to Kelsey and Meghan for braving the humidity and puddles for a truly fabulous and memorable shoot. I could not be more thrilled for you and cannot wait to see what amazing things Kelsey comes up with for the wedding.

My niece was brought to the hospital yesterday. This is what I’ve been looking at for the past 24 hours:

She’s been a great patient. She’s doing much better today, and will be going home tonight or tomorrow.

My Dog is Cooler than Me

June 18, 2009

I adopted my dog from a local shelter 4 and a half years ago after she was abandoned by her first ‘family’. I took one look at her cowering in her run and knew she was THE dog for me. Many other people thought I was crazy. She was scared of everything, including me for quite a while. She would pee at the drop of a hat, or the raise of a voice, or the approach of a man. But over the years she has come out of her shell and is truly the most wonderful dog anybody could hope for. She is totally chill 90% of the time, but always up for some play and cuddle time. She’s still timid with strangers and pretty neurotic, but her neuroses only compliment my own. We are perfect for each other and I just adore her.

One of my favorite things about Keller from the very beginning was her fur. She is the definition of scruffy. She’s both speckled and spotted, with about 15 different shades of beige and brown making up her wiry coat. She’s got these adorable black sprigs of hair coming off the ends of her ears. She just looks like she came from a pound.

While I do love the look of her usual hairdo, she sheds a ton and we’re on our 5th 100+ degree day this summer (before summer has even officially started). With my new apartment’s cleanliness and the heat in mind, I decided to make both of us a little more comfortable.

Here is how my precious Keller usually looks:

Here are a few snapshots of how she looks now, post groomer:

She is so punk, with her cute little mohawk.

You know you’re a Texan when you are driving down the highway with your niece and see one of the nicer patches of bluebonnets in an otherwise bad season. Without even thinking, you slam the breaks, whip onto the shoulder, set the confused child down in the middle of an interchange and start snapping away with your camera.

Poor Alivia was not a fan of this whole process. She was afraid to move around in the flowers and spent most of our little, impromptu shoot crying and reaching out, begging to be picked up. But she’s still adorable, as always.

Unfortunately (for me, I’m sure Ali is glad), she was not with me when I found this amazing field of blooms. I was truly in awe of the beauty.

Ever since my cousin Ross introduced his then-girlfriend Hope to our extended family, she has blended right in. I was thrilled when they asked me to do an engagement shoot for them. While it had to be rescheduled due to illness and then moved from Austin to Houston, Hope’s bridal shower this weekend provided the perfect opportunity to get some photos of them with their little boy in their home town. They were so natural in front of the camera that it was really hard to pick just a few to show here. I hope you guys enjoy your sneak peak:

Breyden turned one in January and is a little man on the go! Though he didn't want to sit still, he was an excellent sport.
